Regular dental
visits are an important part of a child’s oral health prevention
program. We recommend a child’s first visit to a dentist by their first
birthday, unless you notice problems earlier.
We focus on creating a fun and comfortable environment
for your child’s visit. At the first appointment, the dentist
will examine your child’s teeth and discuss their diet, correct cleaning
techniques and other factors that can affect oral health. We will also discuss
with you infant care, teething eruption order, baby bottle decay, and the
pros and cons of fluoride for young children.
We will discuss with you preventative treatments
such as sealants and mouth guards for children involved in contact sports.
The dentist will also recommend to you the frequency of your child’s
visits, which are normally twice a year. This allows the dentist to catch
potential problems early.
